It helps organizations create succession plans and motivates employees to develop skills. Potential appraisal differs from performance appraisal in that it focuses on measuring latent talents rather than actual performance, and aims to guide employees' future growth. Techniques for potential appraisal include self-appraisals, peer reviews, supervisor reviews, tests, and exercises to evaluate traits like leadership potential.
