Dear Parents
Tesco Tokens
Last year we collected 16 802 Tesco Tokens with your help. This year we hope to collect
even more so please ask your friends and family to collect for it! We are aiming for
18 000. This year we are hoping to add additional musical instruments, outdoor
equipment and listening centres.
Vouchers will be in store from 2nd March until 7th June. Vouchers should be sent in with
children or handed in at the school office.
Homework
Our new booklet containing homework advice is almost ready. In the meantime please
continue to support us by ensuring homework is completed. Some children always have
their tasks completed but we have a small minority whose work is never done and
diaries are not signed. Homework does give children extra practice and helps reach
attainment. Please ask your child what work he/she has and help them to hand it in on
time.
Staffing Issues
As a result of ongoing back problems Mrs West, Senior Clerical has been absent from
work for several weeks. At last some supply cover has been secured which will make a
tremendous difference to office administration.
Last week two of the School Primary Assistants were absent which meant lunches were
not dealt with as swiftly as usual. However I feel we did the best we could in the
circumstances. The children are now into a good routine in the mornings and this
system does save about 20 minutes teaching time.
A big thank you to Mrs Bergen and Mrs Williamson for helping us last week.
On 23rd March Mrs Jane Batchelor will be taking up a new post in Forfar at the Autistic
Unit at Langlands Primary School and Mrs L Ward will be starting as a full time teacher
of P2 at Whitehills Primary School. We will miss these two experienced members of staff
but look forward to welcoming Miss Abbie Tait as teacher of P2.
Fairtrade
The Fairtrade tuckshop will be held again on Friday this week. Please note this venture
does not aim to make a profit.
Children are invited to take part in this event by wearing something red on Friday.
Pupils may come in clothes of their own choice if they wish. A donation of £1 will be
gratefully received.
Yours sincerely
