PHYSICS XF: Mirrors

This document provides information about different types of mirrors and their properties. It discusses flat mirrors, concave mirrors, and convex mirrors. For each type of mirror, it gives the image characteristics including orientation, size, and whether the image is real or virtual. Formulas are provided for focal length and image formation based on the position of the object in relation to the focal point. Examples are given demonstrating how to use the formulas and properties of each mirror type to calculate image distances and sizes.

Anna stands 2m in front of the dressing mirror and she moves closer to the mirror 1.2m. What is the distance between Anna and her image?

Budi stands in front of a flat mirror that is placed 8m in front of the wall. His eyes are on the middle of mirror and he can see the entire wall behind his. If the height of the wall is 10m and the height of the mirror is 1m, what is the distance between Budi and the mirror?

Concave Mirrors Process

An inverted image is magnified by 2 when the object is placed 20 cm in front of a concave mirror. Determine the image distance and the focal length of the mirror.

A 5 cm tall light bulb is placed a distance of 8 cm from a concave mirror having a focal length of 15 cm. Determine the image distance and the image size.

A 4 cm tall light bulb is placed a distance of 35 cm from a convex mirror having a focal length of - 12 cm. Determine the image distance and the image size.

An upright image is magnified by 1/5 when the object is placed 25 cm in front of a convex mirror. Determine the image distance and the focal length of the mirror.
