Nitsuko dX-Z Series User Guide

Service Code and Programming of Function Key


Service Code It is necessary to dial the service code to make use of the various functions of the Nitsuko dX-Z Series when you use a digital key telephone or a Single Line Telephone. The service code can be changed while the dX-Z Series is installed. This manual describes the service code which is set when it is shipped from the factory. If your system does not use the standard service code, certain feature access code may be different than described. Check with your communications manager. Programming of Function key. The function key can perform the function of the line key or the function key itself. So you can just press the key to activate the assigned function without dialling the service code. Programming of Function key (e.g.) Allocation of Call Forward dual ring. Leaving to replace the handset. Press CL1 or CL2 key. Dial 851 (Service Code for programming of function key). Press the function key [Call Forward] (function number. Or Function key to be stored). Dial 10000. Press the SPK key. To Program of Extension Name. Your name can be stored in your key telephone. Those names will be shown on the display of the other parties when called. 1) To Program Extension Name: Press the CL key. Dial 800. Press F1~F10. Press CHECK key. Press the HOLD key. Press the SPK key.

Digital Key Telephone To Program One-Touch Dialling Abbreviated Dialling


1) To Program One-Touch Dialling Press the CL key. Dial 855. Press the One-Touch key. Dial 9??....? (Telephone number of other party) or ??? (Extension number). Press SPK key. Display: KEY TOUCH PROG ONE

2) To Program Common Abbreviated Dialling Abbreviated Number: (Note 1) Press CL key. Dial 853. Dial telephone number. Press the HOLD key. Name Storing: (Note 2) Press F1~F10. Press CHECK key. Press the HOLD key. Press the SPK key.
Note 1: Note 2: The number of digits for the abbreviated number depends on the system settings. Refer to How to Program One-Touch Dialling.

Display: SET ABB: COMMON

3) To Program Group Abbreviated Dialling Operate the same way to do the common abbreviated dialling. However, the service code for group abbreviated dialling is 854 Display: SET ABB: GROUP

4) Check Abbreviated One-Touch Press the CHECK key. Press the DC key. Or One-Touch key. Dial Abbreviated number Press CLEAR key.

When you call (In General)


Method of seizing outside line or intercom depends on the system. Also, some operations can be omitted. Select the best method to use. 1) When Calling Outside Line Press the Line key. Dial Telephone number. Lift the handset. Telephone number is being called.
Note: Pressing the line key after dialling is possible.

2) One-Touch Dialling Outside Line & Intercom Press One-Touch key. Lift the handset. Telephone number is being called.
Note: should an outside access code (9) be stored with the one-touch key, it will obtain the outside line automatically.

3) Repeat Dialling Outside Line (Absent/Busy). Press the DC key. Press LND key. Replace the handset.
Note: after the set time is passed, the outside line is obtained to redial.

Press DC key. And then LND to cancel.

4) When Calling Intercom Press the CL key. Dial the extension number. Lift the handset. Extension number is called.
Note: Pressing the speaker key after dialling is possible.

5) Abbreviated Dialling Outside Line Press Line key. Press the DC key. Press the Abbreviated number. Lift the handset. The abbreviated number is called.
Note: Pressing the line key can be omitted.

6) Redial Outside Line Press the Line key. Press the LND key. Lift the handset. Phone number is called.
Note: Pressing the line key after dialling is possible.

7) Step Call Intercom Number is being called. Absence/Busy. Dial 808.


Note: other extension of the same extension group can be called. This operation can be repeated consecutively.

When you answer a Phone Call

(In General) When you receive an incoming call, indicator on the key telephone also be flashed. 1) When answer Outside Line Incoming call. Lift the handset. Press the line key. Start talking.

Note: press the line key which is slowing flashing a red light.

When the automatic incoming call answer function is set, answering will be available without pressing the line key.

2) Call Pick Up Outside Line & Intercom Call access from the same extension group is incoming. 1. Press the CL key. Dial 867. Lift the handset. Start talking. 2. Dialling 869 call pick up to the other group. 3. Dialling 868 and other number. Allows call pick up of other group number. 3) When answer Intercom Incoming intercom caller. Press CL1 or CL2. Lift the handset. Start talking. When the automatic incoming call answer function is set, answering will be available without pressing the CL key. 4) Incoming call mode Intercom Incoming call mode can be available by switching signal and voice. Press the CL key. Dial 821 for voice Then SPK key. Or Dial 823 for signal. Then press the SPK key. 5) Intercom Talk Back Intercom Intercom call is switched to Voice and MIC key is OFF. Voice is heard. Start talking
Note: Talk back is available with the microphone.

If your ley telephone has handsfree function, calling on an outside line is possible.

Holding and Transferring a Call

(In General)

1) Exclusive Outside Line Incoming call. Press the Function Key (Exclusive Key). Replace the handset.
Note: Press the line key to put on Exclusive Hold to retrieve an outside call.

Allocation of the exclusive hold key is required use the Function key. 2) Unanswered Call Transfer Outside Line & Intercom Press the Function key (Unanswered call transfer). Dial 1. Dial the extension number forwarded. Or Press the CL key. Dial 845. Dial 1. Dial the extension number forwarded. Press the SPK key. If a called party is unanswered for a certain time, the call is transferred to extension forwarded. 0 should be set to release in the same way as above. 3) Hold and Extension Transfer Outside Line Outside call comes in. Press the HOLD key. Dial the extension number required. Announce the call. Replace the handset. Or Repeat step 1-3. Press the TRFR key. Replace the handset. 4) Automatic Hold Outside Line When another outside call line calls. Press the CL key or the Line key. If another call key is pressed, a call on an outside line is automatically held. 5) Park Hold Outside Line and Intercom You are talking to an outside line. Press the function key (Park Hold key).
Note: Answering again is also achieved by dialling the park hold number instead of repressing the Park Hold key.

Allocation of park hold key is required. The park hold number can be from 1 to 32. it is useful when the line key has not been allocated. 6) Busy Transfer Intercom Press the function key (Busy Transfer). Dial 1 & extension number forwarded to. Press the SPK key. Or Press the CL key. Dial 843. Dial 1 then the extension forwarded. Press SPK key. 0 is to release. 7) Automatic Busy Transfer Busy tone is heard. Replace handset. Or Busy tone is heard. Press TRFR key. Replace handset.

For More Convenient Use

(In General)

1) Conference Call Intercom Convocation Talking to other party. Press the function key (Conference key). Dial extension number. Response is heard. Or Talking to other party. Press the function key (Conference key). Dial the next caller for conference. The maximum participant for one group can be selected as 4 parties or 8 parties alternately depending on the system setting. 2) Conference Call Oral Convocation Talking to other party. Press the function key (Internal Meet me conference). Oral notice of line number. The maximum participate of one group can be selected as 4 parties or 8 parties alternately depending on the system setting.

3) External Paging Press the CL key. Dial 803. Then dial 0 (Zone number). Paging.
Note: Group paging is available by setting between 0 and 8 as a Zone number.

4) DTMF Signal Outgoing DP Line Talking to other party. Press the # key. Dialling. Dialling number is transmitted by DTMF signal when DP line, ISDN line and Intercom call is used to call. 5) Line Call Back Outside Line Trunk access. Busy tone is heard. Dial 850. Replace handset.
Note: When outside line becomes available for use, Call Back signal appears. The outside line is obtained is the handset is lifted.

The line can be waited without replacing the handset (Line Camp-On). 6) Extension Call-Back Intercom Busy tone is heard. Dial 850 Replace handset.
Note: When intercom call of the other party finishes, call-back signal appears. The intercom is obtained if the handset is lifted.

The line can be waited without replacing the handset (Extension Camp-On). 7) Alarm Press the CL key. Dial 827. Press number 1 or 2. Put in the Time input. Press the SPK key.
Note: Time is input on 24-hour system. For example: 8:30am: 0830 3:05pm: 1505

Alarm 1 means an alarm rings only once. Alarm 2 means al alarm rings once every day. Clear key is used to stop ringing. When you dial 9999 as time, the setting can be cancelled.

8) Do Not Disturb (DND) Press the DND key. Then press either. 0-to cancel. 1-Outside line DND. 2-Intercom DND 3-1 & 2 DND. 4 Transfer DND

For More Convenient Use (In General)


1) Message Setting Unanswered extension or busy is heard. Dial 841. Replace handset.
Note: Indicator is light up.

2) Message Answer Indicator is flashing rapidly. Lift the handset. Dial 841. Calling the number that left the message. Start talking. 3) Text Message Setting To set on your telephone is shown on the display of other party. Press the CL key. Dial 836. Press in the number form 1~20. Press in the time and number. Then the SPK key. 4) Text Message Clear Press the CL key. Dial 836. Press the SPK key. 5) Message Clear Extension Left a Message Indicator is lighting. Press the CL key. Dial 871. Dial the extension number. Press the SPK key.
Note: Dial the extension number to release the message.

6) Message Clear All Clear All messages set on your key telephone are cleared. Press the CL key. Dial 873. Press the SPK key. Text Message: No.01 No.02 No.03 No.04 No.05 No.06 No.07 No.08 No.09 No.10 No.11 No.12 No.13 No.14 No.15 No.16 No.17 No.18 No.19 No.20 In Meeting until (Put in time). Out until (Put in time). Out Please Call (Put in telephone number). Please Call Me on (Put in telephone number). Busy Call After (Put in time or telephone number). Out for Lunch Back (Put in time). Business Trip until (Put in date). Business Trip Call (Put in telephone number). Gone for the Day. On Vacation until (Put in date). Message 11. Message 12. Message 13. Message 14. Message 15. Note: Message number can be shifted by pressing the up volume key.

VAU Features (Voice Announce Unit is required) 1) Condition Guidance Message Idle condition 3 Date announce. 6 Extension number. 8 Time announce. 2) General Message Recording Press the CL key. Dial 712. The press 7. You hear Please start recording. Recording the General Message. Press SPK key when finished.

3) General Message Listen Idle Condition. Press 4


Note: When the extension receives new General Message, indicator will be flashing. After listening to the General Message, the indicator will be light off.

4) Call Forward with Personal Greeting Message Press the CL key. Dial 713. You will hear Please start recording. Recording the Personal Greeting message. Then the extension number. 1 Busy 2 No Answer 3 Busy/No Answer 4 Always Or 1 All Call 2 Exchange line call 3 Extension call Then press SPK key when finished. 5) Meet Me Paging Transfer by Personal Greeting Message Press the CL key. Dial 713. Your will hear Please start Recording. Recording the Personal Greeting Message (for caller). Dial 803. Or Dial 0~8 (Paging Zone number). You hear Please start recording. Recording Personal Greeting Message (for Paging). Press SPK key when finished. 6) VAU Message Recording Press CL key. Dial 716. Press 1~6 (VAU message number). You hear Please start recording. Recording the VAU Message. Press SPK key when finished.

Digital Key Telephone with Standard Display How to Program One-Touch key.
1) To Program One-Touch Dialling. 1) Press one of the Soft keys. 2) Press PROG key. 3) Press MORE key. 4) Press MORE key again. 5) Press ONE key. 6) Press One-Touch key which you want to store. 7) Input storing dial (Extension number or outside telephone number). 8) Press the HOLD key. 9) Input name. 10) Press the HOLD key. 11) Confirmation tone shall be heard. Press CLEAR key to finish.
Note: Repeat 6-11 to add more one-touch keys.

Example In case of NITSUKO Name which N I should be stored Key and the F4 F3 number which is Twice Once to be pressed.

Press CLEAR key to finish.
Note: Repeat steps 6~11 to add more Abbreviated numbers.

Digital Key Telephone with Standard Display How to Program Function Key.
1) To Program Function Key. 1) Press one of the Soft key. 2) Press PROG key. 3) Press MORE key. 4) Press MORE key again. 5) Press FTR key. 6) Press function key which you want to store. 7) Dial function code. 8) Example: 1000. 9) Confirmation tone shall be heard.
Note: Press Function Key to continue to repeat steps 6~9. Or Press CLEAR to finish.

Digital Key Telephone with Standard Display Menu Command


Paging: All paging and group paging in external speaker can be selected. Internal Group Paging: Intercom paging groups can be called. Saved Number Redial: Dialling number which is saved can be called. Direct Call Pick Up: Incoming paging can be answered by own key telephone. Meet-Me Answer Paging: External paging can be answered by own key telephone. 6) Group Call Answering: Internal group paging can be answered. 7) Message Answering: While the indicator is flashing, the other party who left a message can be called. 8) Alarm: Time of the alarm can be set. Alarm 1 means an alarm beeps once. Alarm 2 means an alarm beeps once every day. 9) Call Forwarding: Incoming calls can be transferred to another extension. The key telephone itself with which the function is set does not ring. 10) Call Forwarding (Dual Ring): Incoming calls can be transferred to another extension. The key telephone itself with which the function is set rings. 11) Busy Transfer: When your telephone is of-hook status calls will be transferred to another extension. 12) Unanswered Call Transferring: A call can be transferred to another extension when the specified time for the call has passed. 13) Follow Me: Incoming calls to other key telephones can be transferred to the own key telephone. 14) DND Outside Line: Incoming calls from outside lines are refused. 15) DND Intercom: Incoming calls from an extension are refused. 16) DND Outside Line/Intercom: Incoming calls from both outside line and extensions are refused. 17) DND Transfer: Transfers from other extensions are refused. 18) Signal Call/Voice Call: Incoming calls to own key telephone can be switched between signal call (bell ring) and voice call. 19) Text Message: Text Message can be set and cleared. 20) Abbreviated Dialling: Abbreviated dialling numbers can be stored. 21) Function key: The function can be stored on the function key. 22) One-Touch Key: The function of the one-touch key can be stored. 23) All Camp-On Clear: All station camp-on and line camp-on are CLEARED. 24) Station Camp-On Clear: Station Camp-on can be cleared. 25) C/O Line Camp-On Clear: C/O line camp-on can be cleared. 26) All Message Clear: All messages that are set on own key telephone can be cleared. 27) Set Message Clear: All messages made to other ley telephone can be cleared. 28) Receive Message Clear: All messages that are received by own key telephone can be cleared. 29) Repeat Dialling Cancel: Repeat dialling numbers that are set be cancelled. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

Digital Key Telephone with Standard Display For More Convenient Use
When you place an intercom call or outside call, system prepared more convenient functions. 1) To Place an intercom call (When a called extension is no answer). Press one of the Soft keys for: Bypass call (BYP): Party who set do-not-disturb or call forward can be called directly. Message (MSG): Messages are left to parties who do not answer. Signal/Voice (S/V): Intercom calling can be switched between signal calling and voice calling. Step Call (STEP): The next extension number is called if other present party does not answer. 2) When a called extension is busy Press one of Soft keys for: Camp On (CAMP): When the other party finishes a call, a sound beeps to alert the party. Step Call (STEP): The next extension number is called if the other present party does not answer. Override (OVER): A party who is busy can be called (by off-hook signalling). Press the MORE key for: Bypass Call (BYP): Party who set do-not-disturb or call forward can be called directly. Message (MSG): Messages are left to parties who do answer. Break-In (B-in): Break-In call can access a busy extension as if calling among three parties.
Note: Press key to return to the previous display.

3) To place an outside line call Press on of the Soft keys for: Conference (CONF): A conference call is made. Repeat Dial (RPT): Repeat dialling is set. Saved Dial (SAVE): The last number dialling is stored. Record (REC): Conversation recording is set (Optional unit is required).

4) When all the lines are busy Press of the Soft keys for: Camp On (CAMP): When all outside lines are busy, an extension user can queue off-hook for busy outside line to become free. 5) Conference Call Extension Conversation When an Intercom call is established. 1) Press one of the Soft keys. 2) Press CONF key. 3) Dial extension number which you want to add. 4) When the called party answers. Press the HOLD key. 5) Dial extension number which you want to add. 6) When the called party answers. Press the HOLD key. 7) Press the HOLD key again. 4 party conference is established.
Note: Repeat steps 5~7 to add more parties.

1) To Program One-Touch Dialling 1) Press MENU key. 2) Press PGM/SAVE key. 3) Press ONE-TOUCH key. 4) Press One-Touch which is to be stored.
Note: Press the key to return to the previous display.

5) Input storing dial number of other party (Telephone number or extension number). 6) Press the SAVE key. 7) Put the name to be stored. 8) Press the SAVE key.
Note 1: key. Note 2: When a name is stored, in the case of storing the next: Press the next one-touch Press between F1 and F10, SAVE key and CHECK for name storing.

Digital Key Telephone with Large Display How to Program Abbreviated Dialling
1) To Program Abbreviated Dialling 1) Press MENU key. 2) Press PGM/SAVE key. 3) Press ABB DIAL key. 4) Press ABB SYSTEM key. 5) Input stored Abbreviated dial number (extension number). 6) Input storing dial number (telephone number). 7) Press SAVE key. 8) Store names.
Note: Refer to How to Program One-Touch Dialling- name programming.

9) Press F9 or F10.
Note: When a name is stored, in the case of programming the next: select a specified abbreviated number by using the F9 and F10 key. When program is completed: Press CLEAR key.

How to Program Function Key


1) To Program Function Key 1) Press MENU key. 2) Press PGM/SAVE key. 3) Press FTR KEY key, 4) Press Function key (Press function key which is stored). 5) Input FUNCTION CODE DATA. (Example 1000 (Function Code). To continue: Press the function key. To finish: Press CLEAR key.
Note 1: To input the same storing on the same function key is impossible by beeping out a null sound. Note 2: Some Codes of the function Key require supplementary data. Follow the indication on the display window to input.

Menu Command
1) Pilot Number Call: Extension group can be called by pilot number. 2) Paging: All paging and group paging in external speaker can be selected. 3) Internal Group Paging: Internal paging groups can be called. 4) Saved Number Redial: Dialling number which is saved can be called. 5) Call Pick Up: Incoming calls to other extensions of the same group can be answered by own key telephone. 6) Meet-Me Answer Paging External paging can be answered by own key telephone. 7) Group Call Answering: Internal group paging can be answered. 8) Message Answering: While the indicator is flashing, the other party who left a message can be called. 9) Alarm: Time of alarm can be set. The key telephone itself with which the function is set rings. 12) Busy Transfer: When your telephone is off-hook status call will be transferred to another extension. 13) Unanswered Call Transferring: A call can be transferred to another extension when the specified time for the call has passed. 14) Follow Me: Incoming calls to other key telephones can be transferred to the own key telephone. 15) DND Outside Line: Incoming calls from outside lines are refused. 16) DND Intercom: Incoming calls from an extension are refused. 17) DND Outside Line/Intercom: Incoming calls from both outside line and extensions are refused. 18) DND Transfer: Transfers from other extensions are refused. 19) Signal Call/Voice Call: Incoming calls to own key telephone can be switched between signal call (bell ring) and voice ring. 20) Text Message: Text message can be set and cleared.

21) Abbreviated Dialling: Abbreviated dialling numbers can be stored. 22) Function Key: The function can be stored on the function key. 23) One-Touch Key: The function of the one-touch key can be stored. 24) All Camp-On Clear: All stations camp-on and line camp-on are CLEARED. 25) Station Camp-On Clear: Station camp-on can be cleared. 26) C/O Line Camp-On Clear: C/O line camp-on can be cleared. 27) All Message Clear: All messages that are set on own key telephone can be cleared. 28) Set Message Clear: All messages made to other key telephone can be cleared. 29) Receive Message Clear: All messages that are received by own key telephone can be cleared. 30) Repeat Dialling Cancel: Repeat dialling numbers that are set be cancelled.

When You Call.


When you call, use our key telephone with large display for further convenience. A certain name that you are trying to call can be selected on the large display. 1) When you Call Intercom 1) Press the DIRECTORY key. 2) Press DESIGN section. 3) Press the name you want to call. 4) Lift the handset and start talking.
Note: As soon as a name is pressed, the intercom is seized and the number is dialled.

2) When you Call Abbreviated Dialling 1) Press the MENU key. 2) Press ABB: COMMON MENU key. 3) Press the key corresponding to the name you want. 4) Press the name you want. Example: 1) For Atlanta. 2) Press the ABC key. 3) The name Atlanta comes up. 4) Press the key with Atlanta.
Note: A display can scroll by using the SCROLL talking. or VOL key. Lift the handset and start

3) When you Call One-Touch 1) Press the key corresponding to the name you want. 2) Lift handset and start talking. The most useful way is to set the one-touch function for the parties that you frequently call.

For More Convenient Use


When you are seizing an intercom and outside lines, are prepared more convenient function. 1) Menu-Intercom Signalling Parties who set do-not-disturb and call forward can be called directly. By pressing the BYPAS CALL key. Messages are left to parties who do not answer. By pressing the MESSAGE key. Intercom calling can be switched between signal calling and voice calling. By pressing the SIGNAL/VOICE key. The next extension number is called if the other present party does not answer. By pressing the STEP CALL key. 2) Menu-Busy Extension The menu description that is the same as that on the calling intercom is skipped. Break-In call can access a busy extension as if calling among three parties. By pressing BREAK IN key. When the other party finishes, a calling sounds beeps to alert the party. By pressing CAMP ON key. A party who is busy can be called (by off-hook signalling). By pressing the OVERRIDE key. 3) Menu-Seizing An Outside Line A conference call is made.
