Classroom Management

Early Morning Routine: Students arriving at school before 7:40 AM enter the school building in the back and go directly to the cafeteria. Students are dismissed from the cafeteria to their classrooms at 7:40AM. Students, who arrive at 8:00AM, will be counted tardy and must check in at the office.

Morning Classroom Routine: Students enter the classroom at 7:45 AM and read their AR books until activity period at 8:15 AM. The students can also use this time to sharpen pencils and get water.

Restroom Procedures: The students are allowed to go to the restroom at the beginning of class and between changing classes. Once the lesson start, the students are not to leave the room, unless an emergency. The students are permitted to go to the restroom on an as needed basis and in case of an emergency. In this case, the student will give me a signal and I will allow them to exit the room.

Tornado Procedure: The students will proceed to our designated area in the building. Students sit on their knees, lower their heads, and place their hands over their heads. They sit in this position silently until the teacher gives them other instruction.

Fire Drill Procedure: The students line up quickly and quietly at the door. We walk in a straight, silent line to our designated area.

Hallway Procedures: The students are to walk in a single file line to their destination. There should also be no talking in the hallways.

Lunch/Cafeteria Procedures: The student must get everything you need (spoon, fork, napkins, milk, ketchup, etc) before going to your table. Once seated, you must remain in your seat until it is time to leave the cafeteria. Before returning your tray to the window, clean up any scraps of food on the table onto your tray (not on the floor). Check to see that no food scraps are on the floor around you. Classroom Rules: 1. Daily Classroom Procedures


The following procedures were developed to facilitate a smooth running confusion free classroom and to maximize instructional time.

School Supplies: Students are to bring all necessary supplies to school daily.

Tardiness: Students who are tardy must report to the office and obtain a pass before entering the classroom.

Sharpening Pencils: The students are responsible for sharpening their pencils at the beginning of class and after lunch. They need to have 2 pencils sharpened.

Listening to Announcements: Students must remain silent while announcements are being made.

Seeking Recognition: Students who wish to be recognized for the purpose of speaking during instruction or class work, must raise their hand and wait to be recognized by the teacher, before speaking. Students must also remain in their seats unless otherwise directed by the teacher.

Leaving the Classroom: Students must obtain permission from the teacher to leave the classroom at any time. Students must also have the appropriate pass before exiting the classroom.

Returning Assignments and Projects: All assignments and projects must be completed and returned to school on the next day of school or on identified due date. Parents must sign the assignments when requested by the teacher.

Progress Report: Progress reports and/or graded papers will be sent home every week. Students must obtain parents signatures on designated paper and return them to school on the next school day.

Make-up Work: Students who were absent from school will receive a folder containing the work that they missed. The work must be completed and returned to school within three days of their return to school.

Toys and Cell Phones: Toys and cell phones are not allowed in the classroom. Any toy or cell phone confiscated will be turned in to the principal and parents must come to school to claim them.

Uniform Dress Code: Students must wear school uniform each day. Parents will be called to come and pick up students who come to school without their uniform. Parent will receive prior notification on days when students are allowed to wear other forms of clothing to school.

Dismissal Procedures: Students must remain in the classroom until their names or bus numbers have been called. Upon leaving the classroom, students must walk quietly to their rides.
