1. Environmental Policy
Be appropriate to the nature, scale, and environmental impacts of the organization activities and goods produced. Include a commitment to continual improvement and prevention of pollution. Include a commitment to relevant legal requirements. Provide a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets. Be documented, implemented and maintained, and communicated to all employees (also contractors) Be available to the public.
2. Planning 1. Environmental Aspects. Environmental aspects are those elements of an organizations activities, products serives or phusycal resources which may have potentially beneficial or harmful effects on the environment. Environemtna impact is the change that takes place from the occurrence of any given aspect. Eg:
Aspect: Shifting of fully grown trees due to building expansion activity .Impact: Tree population is maintained and all benefits of trees are sustained.
Aspects can be identified in 4 easy steps: 1. Activities are first reviewd in process increments small enough to be examined for impacts but large enough to get the job done ina reasonable time. 2. All environemtnal aspects of the procedures or process are identified. 3. All potential and actual enviromenmtnal impacts suchas positive impacts, negative impacts, are identified and associated with an aspect. 4. The aspects are judeed for their significance. A measuremnte system is developed to seprate those aspects which are sifgnificant from those whicah re not.
