PDC Business Case SAP Solution

The document discusses SAP's standard solution for accounting post dated cheques received from customers. It involves entering cheque details in SAP using down payment requests and converting them to advance payments when deposited. SAP standard solution to account post dated cheques received from customers

BUSINESS REQUIREMENT:
As per business requirement of client, billing structure all Distributors and Direct Dealers are required to give postdated cheques (PDC) dated on or before the due date of the bill, with in 7/10 days from the date of billing in settlement of bills raised on them. If any Distributor or Direct Dealer fails to give the PDC within the said time, the system will automatically block the billing facility to that Distributor or Dealer. Post-Dated Cheque Register is used: To enter the postdated cheques received from Distributors, Direct Dealers etc. towards the settlement of sale bills. To enter the cleared date of cheque (after getting cleared from Bank) To cancel the cheques, which are already entered in the Register, there by nullifying the effects of entering the cheque viz, bill settlement etc.

SAP SOLUTION IMPLEMENTED: Standard SAP solution is used to meet the above requirement. No development carried out. All the PDCs received are entered in SAP system with Down payment request process. Cheque date/due date will be entered as due date in SAP and cheque details such as number, bank and branch details are entered in a systematic way in text field. Standard SAP report is used to get the list of cheques due on any day with details of cheque number, bank and branch. At the time of depositing the cheques in the bank, Down payment requests converted into advance payments. Advance payments are cleared against invoices. Advantages: 1. All cheques received can be seen in relevant customer account as noted item. This will not have any impact on receivables. Only at the time of depositing the cheque in the bank, customer receivables are adjusted. 2. Considered in determining credit control as well. 3. Transparency in accounting PDC cheques. Disadvantages: 1. Lengthy process
