My Reflection of Significant Learning in Psy 1100

The assignment helped me to step out of my comfort zone and to do things that have not done in school. Using the database helped me to understand various point of view that scholars around the world have researched and studied. Having to stand in front of the class and to present and then answer questions from each class member really gave me a feel for what the instructor has to go through. The assignment has really helped me to grow significantly because I have to use all the resources that is available to me.

My Reflection of Significant Learning in PSY 1100.

Substantive Knowledge in the Discipline of Students Choice: Last semester I took PSY 1010 and I realized that I enjoy learning about this subject And I feel like this is very useful to my growth in college. Effective Communication: Giving the presentation in class have taught me to be able to learn how to research and Present the subject to an audience, this has helped me to grow in my studies. Quantitative Literacy: The knowledge I have gained from listening to the class lecture, and doing a research paper plus presentation helped me to think analytically about the subject. Critical Thinking: Having to think analytically about the subject has helped me to really step back and Figure out how a research is accomplished. Knowledge and Skills to be Civically Engaged and/or Work Professionally and Constructively with Others: Having to stand in front of the class and to present and then answer questions from each class member really gave me a feel for what the instructor has to go through.

How did this assignment influence your understanding of the world? Did it challenge any of your assumptions? The assignment helped me to step out of my comfort zone and to do things that have not done in school. I had to use the database and I have never used the database before and this is my second semester in college. Using the resources helped me to understand various point of view that scholars around the world have researched and studied. My assumptions about how human behavior has given my a more liberal outlook on why people behave in a certain way.

What challenges did you face in completing the assignment? How did you address them? My main challenge in completing the assignment is learning how to use the technological resources that is available to me. I am so behind in using technological equipment that it really hurt me last semester when I took the PSY 1010 class. My English 1010 instructor was able to help me to learn how to use power point. As I watched the other students do there presentations I realize that I still have a lot to learn about power point. Having to step out of my comfort zone is really going to help me in my educational goal.

How does the assignment illustrate the growth/change/progression you have had in this class? The assignment has really helped me to grow significantly because I have to use all the resources that is available to help me reach my potential. I have grown a lot because I have been able maximize my time and resources to complete a research project. This semester has been much better for me because I was very disappointed in my performance as a student last semester. I knew I could do better last semester but I did not seek out the help I need it to succeed last semester.

How does your performance on this assignment demonstrate achievement of or progress toward SLCCs college-wide learning outcomes? My performance in this assignment will go a long way in my college career. I have already witnessed how what I am learning in this class is affecting my other classes because I had to use the database in my English 1010 class for a research. The experience gave me the confidence to be able to use the resources that is available. I feel like I am slowly starting to come out of that cloud of ignorance that has kept me from succeeding in the past and now I know that there is no limit what I can accomplish.
