The author of a narrative uses several methods to create a character with realistic traits. The most direct
method used is when the author simply describes the character. The author may indirectly characterize by
embedding clues to a character’s personality in that character’s “thoughts, words, speech patterns and actions.”
Other personality traits can be inferred by examining the thoughts and reactions of the other people to the
character.

In the following table, you will list a trait of your protagonist as revealed by each characterization method. As
proof of your inference, give a quote and page number for each character trait.
