What is the setting ? France during the second world war

What is it about ?? 10 year old Jewish Joseph Joffo is forced to flee from his home in Paris due to fears that he might be arrested. The story recounts his journey of survival across France with his 12 year old brother Maurice.

How is it written ? Most of the story is told in the third person from Jos point of view as a child, however the adult Joseph Joffo sometimes adds is his own reflections and comments.

Who are the main characters ? The book mainly follows the journey of Jo and Maurice Secondary characters include Jos family Mama, Papa, Henri & Albert There are many tertiary characters who are important to the story too
