It is with great sadness that it is learnt of the passing of Dick Beaumont. Long time residents will remember Dick from his time in Urbenville as our ambulance officer.

On Tuesday 4th, the last remaining sawmill in Urbenville and Woodenbong went under the hammer. People came to witness the passing of a long history in timber for the area. It was a sad day.

FUTURE DIRECTIONS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN NSW

There are plans for Tenterfield Shire and Glenn Innes Severn Councils to amalgamate in 2020. Are you willing to accept that our council office will be even further away than it is now? Is there any benefit to rate payers in rural councils for amalgamation? Rural communities are already having to cope with a reduction in services. What can community members do to retain Tenterfield Shire ? Write a submission to the panel at www.localgovernmentreview.nsw.gov.au Write to the Tenterfield Shire Council with your views and it can be included in the councils submission by 28th June. Address to - General Manager, Tenterfield Shire Council, PO Box 214 TENTERFIELD 2372 or email to [email protected] Sign the petition by Tuesday 25th June (petitions available at Urbenville Post Office, Urbenville General Store, Crown Hotel, Urbenville Bowls Club and Scofields and also Woodenbong Post Office.
