Procedure of Transformer Maintenance#

1. Isolate the transformer and apply safety precautions like earthing rods. 2. Barricade the maintenance area and perform IR and continuity tests, recording readings. 3. Inspect the transformer for physical issues like oil leaks, rust, and oil levels, and clean gauges and bushings using carbon tetrachloride.

Procedure of Transformer Maintenance 1. Isolte supply on both sides of Transformer open Link/Isolators.

Use earthing rods for safety precautions. 2. Barricade the area of maintenance. 3. Carry out IR & Continuity Test. Record all readings. 4. Check physical condition of transformer. i. Oil leaks ii. Rust condition iii. Oil level Main tank, coservator tank, breather. 5. Check all gauges for clean visibility, if possible clean. 6. Take oil sample from conservator and main tank, 2 samples: i. Test fir dielectric. ii. Acidity. iii. Moisture heating. 7. Clean all bushings with carbon tetrolcloride. 8. Check all connections for tightness and good contact. 9. Check condition of silica gel. If silica gel contains oil mixture change contents. 10. Rotate tap changer manually. 11. Divertank tank oil to be tested unless it has been opened and work being carried out. 12. Check all relays and protective system. 13. Check Buchholz relay for any physical gas trap. Release petcock for gas escape. 14. Operate relays by stimulation where ever possible. 15. Check DC voltage using voltmeter, AVO to check incoming DC voltage. 16. Winding Temp. Relay/oil temperature relay. 17. Take note for heavy oil leakage/spillage. 18. Check condition of gaskets, if unsuitable change to prevent leak. 19. After maintenance carry out IR and continuity test again. Check results with the earlier test. 20. Where ever possible pressure test (AC) transformer before commissioning.
