Part Testing Summary (API 6A)

This document outlines testing procedures for valves and equipment. It discusses primary and secondary pressure holding tests where pressure is applied to each side of a gate or plug individually while the other side is open to atmosphere. Bidirectional valves undergo additional tests where pressure is applied under full differential pressure and held for periods of time. Unidirectional valves are also tested by applying pressure in the direction indicated on the body. Gas tests involve submerging equipment in water and applying and holding pressure for specified periods.
