Name: Santosh Miryala Core: 2 Title: Mocking Jay Author: Suzzanne Collins Genre: Science Fiction Date: 12/2/2011 Words: 477 Mocking Jay is the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy which was written by Suzanne Collins. Mocking Jay continues with the story of Katniss being convinced to become the Mocking Jay which is a symbol of the rebellion against the Capitol. As the part of deal, she demands the leader of District 13 to grant immunity to all of the victors of the Hunger Games. As usual, I couldnt complete this novel due to the immense number of homework given in school. The books plot interests and amuses me to read the book every day. By now, I have read until the scene of Katniss taking control of the districts and she had begun an assault on the Capitol. Due to this revolt, many members of Katnisss team were killed, which includes Finnick Odair. Also, I am very excited to read and finish the entire novel. I am predicting Prim, Katnisss sister will die due to the revolts which she is conducting. There were many bombs placed near the area of the revolt which can make several people to die which includes Prim. Surprisingly, the relationship between Katniss and Peeta declines. Due to this decline, they did not have a marriage and Peeta had become her enemy. Peeta had joined with President Snow in order to stop the revolts made by Katniss.

The most interesting fact about this book is that Suzanne Collins made this book by the inspiration from the Greek myth of Theseus and Minotaur. As a punishment for past problems, Athens was forced to sacrifice seven youths and seven maidens to Crete, who were then put in the Labyrinth and were killed by Minotaur. Theseus, the son of the king, decided to put an end and volunteered to go. The country Panem came from the Roman saying Panem et Circenses which means Bread of Circuses. Katniss describes once you're in the arena of the Hunger Games, the rest of the world becomes very distant and "[a]ll the people and things you loved or cared about almost cease to exist." The pink sky and the monsters in the jungle and the tributes who want your blood become your final reality, the only one that ever mattered. As bad as it makes you feel, you're going to have to do some killing, because in the arena, you only get one wish. and it's very costly.'
