Minesight Economics

The document discusses MineSight Economic Planner software which enables planning engineers to design long term mining sequences and generate life of mine schedules to maximize net present value. It can perform Lerchs-Grossmann optimization, calculate block values, determine economic pit limits, and design ultimate pits.

MINESIGHT ECONOMIC PLANNER

CONCEPTUAL LONG TERM PLANNING AND SCHEDULING

OVERVIEW MineSight Economic Planner enables planning engineers to design mining sequences and generate lifeof-mine schedules, including rapid evaluation of alternative plans to maximize net present value (NPV). MineSight Economic Planner is the initial MineSight tool applied to new open pit projects during the pre-feasibility and conceptual planning stages. Geometric results from MineSight Economic Planner are used by the MineSight 3D Pit Expansion tool to design pits with ramps and berms. The destination strategy created by MineSight Economic Planner is then used by MineSight Strategic Planner for more detailed scheduling. KEY POINTS
Long term planning Open pit pre-feasibility Calculate block values Economic pit limits Ultimate pit design Lerchs-Grossmann optimization Maximize net present value (NPV)

KEY FEATURES
Maximize NPV using destination selection and cutoff grade optimization > Lerchs-Grossmann method for ultimate pit design with optional reblocking > Floating cone technique for ultimate pit design > Mining sequence design with limit on pushback width > Options for simple slopes, complex slopes and slopes by azimuth > Optional mining cost by bench or block

Vertical discounting option Automatically evaluate pit bottoms Optimize schedules to follow most profitable ore extraction Determine optimal mining direction Multiple plants/processes, waste destinations, and stockpile reclaiming options Generate resource reports within the pit shell Create long term production schedules from series of pit shells Analyze varying capital-versus-productionrate scenarios

Populate block model items for value/block, value/ ton, pit number, destination, and period mined > Evaluate production rates > Create reports and graphs for cutoff grade optimization results > Visualize pit shells to create bench contours and solids > Rapidly calculate and evaluate alternative plans > Create detailed scheduling charts and reports > Use shells as the basis for final designs with the MineSight 3D Pit Expansion tool > Export cutoff grade and stockpile strategies to MineSight Strategic Planner for more detailed analysis and scheduling
