Welcome to Mr.Krishnans Chemistry Class.

About me
I am a Teacher from past 27 years Father of a 12th grader. Husband of a Math Teacher Mean Business inside my class I have 3 Masters Chemistry Science Education and Education

Awards & Recognitions


Innovative Scholar Award from Cleveland Clinics OCEI Volunteerism & Innovation Award in Cleveland Foundation sponsored event. Recently my research paper got published in a well

known journal, called Journal of Neuro-Chemistry.


Only High School Teacher in the district with two science publication and approved to teach Kent College Dual Credit Course. Most Knowledgeable Student in Chemistry - Modeling

Workshop for Chemistry held at OSU.

Now, I am here in CSSM


To teach you! To make You smarter! To prepare You for college! To make you get good scores in all the Achievement tests, which includes OGT, ACT, SAT.

The book used in this class

MODERN CHEMISTRY Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1999.

ATTENDANCE/TARDY
No one can learn in absence. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make-up the work & obtain the class notes completed.

You will be marked Tardy if not in the assigned seat at


the bell & will be assigned with a Full Detention. Bell Work time will not be extended for the Tardy Student. The absentees/ who are Tardy will not be able to make-

up the bell-work.

What to do for MAKE-UP?


Student should meet me only after school. You will not ask for the make up during the class time. The students will store all their work in a folder (transfer them in the 3-ring binder on every alternate Fridays).

CORNELL NOTES
In the notes after each question or a paragraph, skip a line. Have the Dividers in the 3-Ring Binders marked as BW, CW, HW, TQ, LP Use the ruler for drawing a Table/Chart, Graph, to label
the points of interest on a experimental diagram, columns, rows, axes, T-chart, Concept maps & scale, as appropriate.

Daily Lessons
Various activities will be done in the class In order to attain
the objectives and enable the understanding of the material covered. You need to Pay attention, Take notes, Ask Questions (by raising your hand ) to get a good grasp of the material being covered.

Home-Work (HW)
A weekly agenda - each week tells you about what do we do both in school & at home.
Home work and assignments done on a loose leaf sheets HW turned in after the due date - only half credit, which will

diminish in to further halves for every day it is late.


No make up possible after the Friday of the week (HW /CW). No exemptions! Failure to do the HW will be automatic DETENTION/DASH

Calculator
As a student of Science & Medicine, it is imperative to own a calculator. (not the one on the cell phone). A calculator worth of a $ is fine. If you can , buy a TI-84 + or latest model. Student need to write his/her name on the calculator/ ruler using a permanent marker.

It will help me to bring it to the student in case it is left in


the class.

No Electronic Items in side the Class - Do not bring them


No electronic items/Cell phones except the calculators. Calculator on the cell phone is not permitted. No Cameras.

No laptops/I-pods.

Testing Procedure
There is a TEST after each chapter. At every week there will be a Quiz/Pop quiz. Do not expect any help during the test. Absolute silence throughout the test No texts or notes will be allowed No calculators/pencil/pen/rulers may be borrowed Failure to follow the above will require the student to leave the classroom and score zero points for that test. Even a single student talked during the class or breaking the class rules will result in cancellation of the extra credits in the test!

Extra Help/Tutoring
I am here to help you to succeed. You should come and see me if you need any extra help/makeup
I am available after school from 3:30 -4: 30 pm except Tuesday. You need to sign in to meet me on a Google Form (I will send you the link via email for that)

Grading Scale
A: 93 100 B: 85 92 C: 75 84 D: 65 74 F: 0 - 64

Restroom Policy

No bathroom passes. Period.


So you got to use the rest room during the transit time only.

Computer policy
You will use computer only when I asked you to do so. During the Computer lab sessions, websites meant for the learning purposes only be visited. No games, shopping/my space or any other websites. Computers in our building are solely for the educational purposes (not for listening any kind of music). Usage of Teachers Seat, Audio-Visual equipments, Light Switch, Safety / Lab equipments or the total teachers area is completely prohibited. Any misuse of the property of the school is a severe misbehavior. Consequences to be faced for such a behavior.

Transit from our class to Lab/Friday meeting/Assembly


The student should follow the single file silent walk

system, to go to the other areas of the building.


Students should go out when called by the teacher & line up against the wall. (Wait until the last person to join the line in silence. The class will be led by the teacher. Walk silently.) Student should not talk & disrespect the other classrooms under session. Violating this may cause a consequence.

My Rules
Practice a mutual respecting behavior to uplift the scholarly environment in our school. Be truthful & honest.

Be prepared, prompt, productive so that your future will be prosperous.


Consequences: If you follow the above, your future will be BRIGHT! If you dont: Face the consequences to correct your behavior.

Consequences cause cancellation of ECs in test for the entire class!

Routines
Get inside the class early, after made sure about proper attire. Be seated at assigned seat only.

Maintain silence.
Start the Bell work early & finish it on time. There is a timer set for 10 minutes to do the BW & do not write after 10 min. After the BW is completed it will be collected in an orderly manner during which you got to maintain silence. The front row leaders are to compile all the papers in the increasing order of the Roster #s & hand it to the teacher.

Safety Rules
Safety is our first priority during the lab sessions or at any situation.

So student should follow the safety rules as per the


instruction by the teacher before and during a lab.

Student is to listen to each & every part of the


direction keenly before start operating any instrument or an experimental set-up. If I raise my hand : The student is expected to Stop, Look & Listen at once.

White board Presentation Mode


You will be a leader or a Scientist or a doctor or a Medical specialist in the future. People in this profession are expected to present a paper or an article in front of colleagues/experts. We are planning to include such a kind of small group presentation sessions in this academic year & I am sure you will enjoy being a presenter.
