Microbes play an important role in human welfare by providing useful household products, industrial products, and services. Microbes are used to produce household items like curd, bread, cheeses and fermented drinks. They are also used industrially to produce items like antibiotics, chemicals, enzymes and bioactive molecules. Microbes further benefit humanity through services like biogas production, sewage treatment, and biocontrol of agricultural pests.
