Quality Control Techniques

This document discusses quality control techniques used in the television manufacturing industry. It classifies quality control into two categories: process control, which deals with variations in quality characteristics, and product control, which evaluates samples of products. The document then outlines objectives to assess and improve the quality system of a television manufacturer. It discusses the application of control charts, including P-charts, C-charts, U-charts, X-bar charts and R-charts. Specific problem areas are identified relating to incoming materials, work in process, and finished products. Calculations and charts like Pareto charts are used to analyze the data and identify issues.

QUALITY CONTROL TECHNIQUES

Presented By:Abhishek Soni Arun Sharma Garima Mathur Ravi Yadav Sadhna Gupta Siddharth Sharma Vipul Mishra

Quality control techniques is broadly classified in two categories => Process control :In product or services, certain amount of variation is commonly present in the quality characteristics costumer wants. :- These variations are due to two reasons 1.) chance variations.

2.) Variation due to assignable causes.

Product control :It is the process of evaluating a portion of the product material in a lot for the purpose of accepting or rejecting the lot as either conforming or not conforming to a quality specification. :- There are generally three ways in which inspection is carried out: 1.) 100% inspection. 2.) Sampling inspection. 3.) No inspection.

OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT

To Asses the Quality system of the BPL Colour Television manufacturing Industry and evaluate further on the basis of current practices.

To improve the quality system through application of various SQC tools. To use application based on customize organization requirement toward achievement of zero defect quality.

APPLICATION OF CONTROL CHART :

One of the most important tools of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) Developed in the 1920s by Dr. Walter A. Shewhart of the Bell Telephone Labs It is a proven technique for improving productivity It is effective in defect prevention It prevents unnecessary process adjustments It provides diagnostic information It provides information about process capability

TYPES OF CONTROL CHARTS Control charts for Attributes:1.) P-chart 2.) C-chart 3.) U-chart Control charts for Variables:1.) X-bar chart 2.) R-chart

WHY ONLY ATTRIBUTES CHARTS ????

Quick summaries of various aspects of the quality of a product ; Simply classify products as acceptable or unacceptable ; Bypass the need for expensive, precise devices and time-consuming measurement procedures; Easily understood by managers unfamiliar with quality control ; It provides more persuasive evidence of quality problems.

Collection of data

Calculation of trial control limits

PROBLEM AREA

After analyzing the existing manufacturing process of CTV and six month collected data some problem areas were found which were closely related to Quality of CTV it was divided in to three areas, viz Incoming material control Work in process quality control Finish product control

P Chart :--

-> Lower inspection and maintenance cost.

-> To discover the average proportion of defective articles submitted for inspection, over a period of time. -> To bring the attention of the management, any change s in average quality level. -> To discover, identify and correct the cause of bad quality. -> To discover, identify and correct the erratic cause of quality improvement.
