19.2 Includes Unit Prices and Work Hours For The Various Types of Concrete

This document provides unit costs and labor hours for various types of concrete work that are commonly found in chemical projects. The unit costs presented in Table 19.2 are comprehensive and include all related work from excavation to cleanup. These costs are based on a labor rate of $45/hour and are consistent with rates from a large Northeastern civil contractor. The document notes that the labor hours can be adjusted to reflect productivity in different locations. Table 19.3 then lists unit hours for individual concrete operations that could help evaluate and negotiate changes to the work.

Unit costs
Table 19.2 includes unit prices and work hours for the various types of concrete normally found in chemical projects. They can be used to estimate work done on a subcontracted basis. Theunitscostsarecomprehensiveandincludeaprorataof all related components and operations, from excavation to form-stripping, clean-up and grouting. They are consistent with costs obtained from a large civil contractor in the Northeast and based on loaded labor of approximately $45/hr.

Labor hours represent the average of several contractors and published data and are based on "Gulf Coast" productivity. The cost can be easily corrected to specific locations by adjusting the hours to reflect local productivity and the hourly rate to reflect labor rates and contractors' mark-ups. Table 19.3 lists the unit hours for the individual operations normally involved in concrete work. These units could be very useful to discuss and negotiate field extras.
