Math is the science of patterns. Throughout the month of September we have been investigating patterns through number charts, skip counting, manipulatives (to create and extend patterns) and equations. Students will complete a project based on the theme Math Patterns. Students may choose from the following list but are not limited to the projects listed below. Students may propose alternate project ideas to their classroom teacher. Students may choose to: a) Create a mini-lesson on Math patterns to teach to their peers or a younger grade. They must be prepared to facilitate their lesson. Lessons may be presented in person or electronically. b) Find examples of patterns in the world around them and present them in a creative way. c) Create a work of Art inspired by patterns (sculpture, painting, blueprint, knitting, article of clothing, intricate hairstyle ect) . d) Create or recreate a piece of music inspired by patterns. e) Create an appealing game to reinforce what we have learned about patterns. f) Discover an exciting Math Pattern that we did not explore during our unit and present it in a creative way. g) Become the author of a childrens book that teaches readers about Math Patterns.
