Pocket Love

This poem is about a man walking his lady home at night and expressing his love for her. In three verses, the speaker describes holding his lady's hand, overhearing her sigh, and feeling his heart beat quickly when they reached her door. He puts his arm around her waist, kisses her, and asks if she loves him as much as he loves her, to which she replies "of course I do." The poem explores a romantic moment between an African American couple set against the backdrop of nature at night.
