The Reading Workshop


We completed the first unit in our Junior Great Books Program and have now begun The Reading Workshop. The students have been assigned book clubs and I will be meeting with each group daily to provide Guided Reading instruction. This week we are reading non-fiction texts. Each group will also be working in independent centers such as Working with words, Written Response, Silent Reading and Lexia.

Science Update Our Painted Lady Butterfly larvae arrived last week. We have been busy recording and making scientific drawings and observations on our science notebooks. They are now in the pupa stage in our butterfly garden. Ask your child about the four stages of the life cycle of a butterfly!
