Kannapolis is a vibrant community of approximately 40,000 people that is rapidly becoming a center of the Biotechnology 2006-2007 Academic Profile industry. It is located in the Piedmont of North Carolina, 25 miles northeast of Charlotte. Kannapolis is the home of the North Carolina Research Campus, which includes top research universities and some of the worlds most sophisticated research equipment. A.L. Brown High School is located in the shadow of the North Carolina Research Campus and has a partnership with the North Carolina Center for Biotechnology. Besides on-site courses, distance learning courses are offered through a partnership with the NC School of Science and Mathematics. North Carolina Virtual Public High School course offerings are also available.
