Types of swords

Longsword
A very long two-handed weapon that is double edged
Greatsword
A variant of a Longsword made to be onehanded
Bidenhnder
A very large sword used by the Germans meaning two hander because this weighs 10 pounds. It was also not carried in a sheath like most swords, but is carried over the back
Rapiers
Rapiers are slim, quick, one-handed weapons known for the very ornamental grip
Estoc
A unique type of weapon that is edgeless with the exception of the point which was made to penetrate armor
Battle Axes
One or two-handed weapons they would weigh 1 to 6 pounds and were 1 to 5 feet long
Clubs
The simplest type of weapon. They are usually one-handed weapons but there are some types of two-handed weapons. There are some with spikes at the top like this one
Flails
Mainly a one handed weapon, it is a wood handle with a spiky ball at the end of some sort of chain or string
Mace
A one handed weapon that has a metal handle with spikes at the end. The spikes were in later versions of the mace for the need of armor penetration.
Morningstars
These are a type of one handed weapon with a wooden handle and a spiky ball at the end made to make the enemy bleed to death
Warhammers
Warhammers were large one or two handed weapons that are hammers made for combat. The biggest advantage to them was that they could hurt someone even while they were wearing armor because of their brute strength
Bardiche
A type of long axe used in Eastern Europe known for the long axe head
Bill
A long weapon with a curved blade on top. They were used by 15th century British guards.
Glaive
A weapon that was 6 to 7 feet long with a blade that was usually a foot and a half long
Guisarme
A long weapon developed by farmers out of other farming tools
Halberd
Meaning hand axe in German it is a powerful axe used mainly by guards
Lance
A powerful long pole used by infantry and was one of the only weapons used by them
Lochaber Axe
A large axe with a long blade that is close to the pole. It was also used as a farming tool
Lucerne hammer
A type of polearm that is a mix between a war hammer and a bec de corbin
Military Fork
A weapon inspired by a pitchfork with two prongs
Partisan
A weapon with a long shaft and an ornamental blade
Pike
A very long pole that ranged from 10 to 25 feet long with a spear head made of metal at the end and weighed about 22 pounds
Sovnya
A weapon that had a long pole with a sword like head
Spetum
A type of spear 6-8 feet long with a blade of about 1 foot long and changed wars with its sheer power

Bombard
A small type of cannon that is only a few feet long used in the beginning of the age of cannons
Bow
A basic type of weapon that uses a string to pull back a arrow and releasing the string causes the arrow to shoot.
Crossbow
A bow-like weapon that works by pulling back the string into a notch that sticks out to hold the string, then place the bolt into slot, then pull the trigger which causes the notch to move, releasing the string and the bolt with it
Ballista
A type of weapon using similar mechanics as the crossbow except using much more force than the crossbow causing it to go further and being a much bigger
Arquebus
A early type of firearm created by the Dutch and used mainly by the navy
Culverin
Also referred to as the hand bombard it is a very small cannon launched using gunpowder
Musket
The musket replaced the arquebus due to its superior design, but the musket was eventually replaced by the rifle. The musket was used mainly by the infantry
Sling
The most simple ranged weapon which is just a piece of rope with a spot for a stone. The sling is swung in a circle until it has enough force to be released and shot
Franciscas
A type of throwing weapon that is the head of an axe and dates back very early periods
Tomahawk
A type of throwing weapon like a francisca except with a handle and is viewed as a superior weapon being used still today
Javelin
A throwing weapon that is a long stick with a pointed arrowhead on the end
Shuriken
More commonly known as the ninja star, it means sword hidden in the hand. They are mainly throwing weapons but were sometimes used for stabbing too
