Action Research (Task2)

This action research studied the effects of an activity called "Take Five Science" on students' understanding of science terms and interest in learning science. The researchers gave students a pre-test on science terms, taught the terms during class, then gave a post-test before the end of each class. After one month, students scored higher on the post-tests than the pre-test and reported greater interest in science on a questionnaire. Exposing students to terms before and reviewing them after class helped strengthen students' memory and change their perspective of science.

Review This action research(AR) were about a students problem in understanding science terms are so weak that caused the students hard to answer a science questions correctly. This matter had decreased their interest in learning the subject. The problem detected based on the first semester exam results. To overcome this problem, an activities called Take Five Science were performed through pre test, pasca test and questionnaire. The first researchers step were determined the focus of the research, plan an action and the effectiveness of the research. This AR involved weak students from form 1 and have been done in one month. All the action was done in the class when the teaching and learning process occurred. Earlier of the class, a pre test contains science terms were given to the students. Then, learning process run as usual but the science terms were stressed out. Five minutes before the class end, a pasca test contains science terms have been given to the students. The pre and pasca test questions involving the terms that they learned at that day. As the results from the activities, an increase of marks obtained from the pasca test compared to the pre test. From the questionnaire given to the students, after they go through the Take Five Science activities in one month, their interest towards science were also increased.

Closure An early exposes to the science terms before the teaching and learning process was a wise step. The students expose to the terms that they did not know before, this can give their brain standby for further information about the terms from their teacher. The pasca test is the ways to flashback what theyve learnt. All this method; by given pre and pasca test that took just five minutes each in the class may change students perspective towards science and also may strengthen their memory.
