Hughesville Man Charged with Arson


CHARLES COUNTY, MD On October 18, 2013 around 2:20 pm, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office executed an arrest warrant related to an arson that occurred on October 11, 2013 at 12365 Helen Fowlers Place, Hughesville, Charles County. The fire, which caused approximately $5,000 dollars in damage, to a one story, wood frame, single family dwelling, was discovered by neighbors and reported to local authorities. During the course of the criminal investigation, Lawrence R. Beuchert (42) was identified and arrested for his involvement in the fire. Beuchert was taken into custody at his residence in Hughesville without incident and was transported to the Charles County Detention Center. He was charged with First Degree Arson, Third Degree Burglary and Malicious Destruction of Property. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal's Office, Southern Region at 443-550-6820. ###
