News and Notes from Miss Ds 4th Grade

Heres what we are working on! Reading: This week we will be working on inferring. In our guided reading groups, all students are working on looking at text to infer character traits.
Math: We continue to work on decimals. We are taking this unit slowly as decimals can be a difficult concept to grasp. We are trying to use different modes such as interactive manipulatives, games and discussion to help us. Writing: We are continuing to work on informative writing. The students are learning to take notes on an expository text to help provide facts for their writing pieces. Social Studies: We are focusing on what defines the east. Science: The students are working on learning about the rock cycle.

Heres What We Have Been Up To"

Our Best Work is Important
The past two weeks we have been discussing the importance of always doing our best on all assignments. We will continue to work on this and will be handed back anything that is not high quality. Please help support this at home by having your student recheck their homework and make sure that al directions are followed.

Buddies Are Fun!!

This week we are writing our first letters to our fifth grade buddies at Sherwood Middle School. Throughout the year, the students will be conversing through letters to Mr. Chalmerss homeroom.

Matt Tavares was a great inspiration!

On Thursday, Matt Tavares came to Spring St, to talk to the students about the writing process. During his lecture, Mr. Tavares shared his editor notes on his writing. It was a great lesson to our students on revising.
