Why do people live in cities? What do people need to live in a city? What could happen if a city is not well planned? How could climate influence the design of a city? Why are location and resource important for a city?

Possible learning experiences these may take place in individual subject time, or within the Unit of Inquiry
Developing guided reading groups and focusing on individual needs - City Mouse, Country Mouse CL- People interpret messages according to their unique experiences and ways of understanding. Continue developing Arabic phonetics at all levels - Learning numbers, time in Arabic - Learning about things around us UAE old and new (old and new jobs) and (how they lived before and how they live now). - City Vocabulary Draw the UAE map and identify the 7 emirates. Learning Days of the week in Arabic - Classroom objects vocab In General Music, students will explore tempo, rhythm, music vocabulary, and composition through city-themed activities. In Advanced Strings, students will continue to develop note reading by connecting previous playing experiences to written notation. In Beginning Strings, students will continue to make connections from previous lessons to build skills and techniques (e.g. bow direction and finger placement).

Library

Students will look at how the library is planned. Why do you think it was done this way etc.?. They will also continue working on understanding the Dewey decimal system Responsibility Students will learn about their personal responsibility to look after the books and also to ensure they are in the correct place. Connection They will look at the numbered sections and identify how are the books connected at a certain number. Students will identify similarities and differences between books and create Venn diagrams demonstrating their understanding. And they will begin looking at using destiny to find books.

EAL Art

Vocabulary: Directions : prepositions, coordinates NSEW Mapping vocabulary, Essential City Services Grammar: singular/plural nouns, Verb Tenses (past, present and future).

Students will continue to investigate the elements of art. They will use their knowledge of texture and colour to create and respond to art. Students will sharpen their power of observation. We will investigate city landscapes and create art based on observations.

Field Trips/ Students will go on a field trip to the Dubai Museum, travelling by bus and Metro. After a walk through the old souk exploring the street design, they will cross the Dubai Creek using an abra, looking at the transportation network which serves the citizens of Dubai (likely on November 17-21) Special Guests
