Used To
We use them to talk about PAST HABITS. E.g.: John USED TO/ WOULD smoke a lot, but he gave up. We cant use WOULD with STATIVE/ NON ACTION verbs. We cant use WOULD / USED TO for present habits. Instead, we use USUALLY. E.g.: I usually go to school by bus, but when it rains I take a taxi. BE USED TO SOMETHING/ TO DOING SOMETHING (I am accustomed) We use it to talk about a situation which FAMILIAR or NOT STRANGE. E.g.: Im used to studying with music (the music doesnt bother me). GET USED TO SOMETHING/ TO DOING SOMETHING (Im becoming accustomed to) We use it to talk about the process of becoming familiar with a new situation. E.g.: Im still getting used to living in the city.
