What is SWPBIS?
Disruptive Behaviors
Desirable Behaviors
Raise hand & speak after being called on Write responses on RC when appropriate Respond in unison during choral responding
Take turns talking Use respectful words at all times Complete written assignments Turn in all assignments when directed
Undesirable Behavior Targeted: A lack of participation characterized by unwillingness to answer and/or ask questions and contribute to class discussions. Without student participation, important questions can go unasked, misconceptions can develop and a student may never develop a true understanding of a concept. Desirable Behavior Targeted: Participation is the act of taking part in or sharing something. In order to be considered participating, students must raise their hand, wait to be called on, and then ask a question or share information. A total of 10 different students should participate each day.
Types of Positive Reinforcements: Immediate R+: A tally mark will be put next to students name on a class seating chart each time they volunteer. Delayed R+: At the end of the class period, if at least 10 different students participated, a picture will be added to the food web. The goal is met when all 10 pictures are on the food web. Novel Interactive Learning Activity: When the goal is met, the class will make food webs out of origami organisms they fold. How to Administer: The tally marks (immediate R+) will be drawn as students participate throughout the class period. The food web picture (delayed R+) will be added at the end of the class period, before students are dismissed, if the goal is met. These can be done quickly and without disrupting class.

Raise your hand. Wait to be called on. Ask a question, answer a question, or share your knowledge.

Interactive Learning Activity: I will make class copies of origami instructions for different organisms that belong to either terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems. The students will draw an organism out of a hat, pick the origami paper they wish to use, and fold their organism. The organisms will be taped onto parchment paper, the food web arrows will be drawn, and the webs will be displayed around the class. Students can write their names on their organisms and take them home at the end of the unit.
Ready to Learn
Undesirable Behavior Targeted: Students not ready to work when the bell rings. Desirable(Expected) Behavior Targeted: Students will be at their seats with their notebooks out and something to write with when the bell rings. Management: Iwill make note from the door when the bell rings of any students that are not RTL, I will place stickers on the notebooks of the students who were RTL during the warm up activity. At the end of the warm up activity, if all students received stickers, and no students came in tardy the class earns a notebook.
Types of Positive reinforcements: 1. Immediate R+: Student gets a sticker in their notebook for being prepared before the bell. BSPS: "Great job being Ready to learn!" "Johnny, thanks for having your materials and being RTL! 2. Delayed R+: Each class period that all students are RTL they will earn a "notebook" (small cutout of a notebook on RTL board). When the class accumulates 5 notebooks, they will engage in a novel interactive learning activity. 3. Novel Interactive Learning Activity: We will have a 20 minute BioDebate. (A debate over a topic in the latest science research, the topic is voted on and posted on the board)
We will be ready to learn when the bell rings! This means 1.I will be in my seat! 2.I will have my notebook out! 3.I will have something to write with!
