Time needed: 15-20 minutes Instructions: On your whiteboard (or original copy of worksheet,) draw a large tin can. Inside the can, draw three individual bean shapes, labeled beginning, middle, and end. Read A Bad Case of Stripes to students, pausing to discuss where you see fit. Pass out worksheets to students, if applicable. Ask students to clearly define what happened in each part of the story. After each part is clearly defined, ask the students what the moral of the story is. Discuss the importance of individuality and being yourself. Take home assignment: o Have students go home and ask their parents/guardians why individuality is important. Tell them you will randomly be picking three students the next day to share.
