(hank you so much for all of the food items your children are bringing in for our school wide food drive9 +o far the kindergarteners are in the lead but the fourth graders are close behind. (his week we read (his is a )ouse *or Me. (his story tied in with our social studies learning about needs and wants. We all need a home and this book shows us how everyone around the world needs a home and how those homes may be different. (he children worked on their new strategy of looking through the whole word and by the end of the week, reading fluently.

(he children loved sharing their ideas and writing about them. : hope this book will warm your heart as well. =long with their writing, our book, December is a (ime to +elebrate, will be coming home ne)t week. :t s a little paper book copy of the book we used for shared reading last week. 5ur focus is on looking at the similarities and differences with how we celebrate with our families.

Social Stu#ies
East week the children were introduced to needs and wants. We read the .ernstein .ears Fet the Fimmies and the children learned how important it is to be thankful for what we have. 4e)t week we will briefly touch on goods and services. (his time of year, children want to be able to give as they see others doing as well. We learn that even when you are five you have much to give9 :t doesn t need to come from a store. /indergarteners can make beautiful pictures, cards, stories, creative arts, songs, etc. (hese are all F55D+. We also will learn that we can provide a +80*:C8 to others such as helping mom fold the laundry or cleaning up the playroom without being asked. :n school we will be producing some F55D+ and providing some +80*:C8+ to our school as well. >aybe these topics will come up for discussion at home as well.
