E1 and T1 Synopsis

The document discusses E1 and T1 interfaces. E1 is the European version of T1 and consists of frames with 32 time slots, with slot 0 for framing and slot 16 for signaling. T1 uses 193 bits per frame with 24 frames in an extended superframe and framing bits to synchronize frames.

E1 Interface
E1 is the European version of T1 Specified by CCITT Recommendations G.734 Physical Layer Interface Synchronous Transmission Consists of frames each 125 microseconds long Each frame consists of 32 time slots numbered 0 - 31 Time slot 0 is used for frame synchronization Time slot 16 used for message-oriented signaling Remaining 30 channels for user data Data Rate 2.048 Mb/s

Frame 8

Frame synchronization is achieved only if frames, say, 6 and 8 have the SYNC pattern 0011011 in bit positions 6 - 0 and bit 7 of frame 7 is 1.
