The document discusses the purpose of graphs and the four key elements a graph must contain: 1) a title, 2) labeled x- and y-axes identifying the independent and dependent variables, 3) units identified on the axes, and 4) numbering that starts at zero.

To show a visual picture of the data in order to quickly come to a conclusion.
Purpose of Graphs:
Four Things a graph MUST have:
1. Title the graph. 2. Axes must be labeled: X axisindependent variable (usually time for a line graph) Y axisdependent variable (what is measured) 3. Axes must have units identified. What are you measuring in? (centimeters, grams, minutes, liters, number of, percent, etc.) 4. Numbering must start at zero. Each space on an axis should represent the same amount. Data should take up at least 2/3 of the height and 2/3 of the width of the graph paper.
