2014!
Welcome Back Students and Parents!!
As we begin the New Year we will have a (very) short 14 school days before we track-out on January 22nd! ! In the coming 14 days we will begin focusing on our 3rd Quarter objectives for reading, writing and math.!
Something New: During independent reading students will be documenting their progress in a reading log which will require them to make thoughtful observations about what they read. This log will be part of their grade for Craft and structure RL3.5 and Integration of Knowledge and Ideas RL3.7!

Writing
Students will begin by exploring realistic ction writing. In this quarter students will produce 2 writing pieces. The rst, mid-way through the quarter, will be an informational writing piece in the Biography genre. The second writing project toward the end of the quarter will be a research report. !
Achieve 3000 will continue to be a large part of our reading curriculum. Students will be given access during classroom time for a total of 90 minutes per week. This quarter I will take grades from assignments that meet reading objectives.
Math:
While we will continue to build our multiplication skills, our focus will be largely on fractions for most of the quarter. Multiplication skills are essential to help students progress to larger concepts so in class and at home students will/should continue to use Xtra Math and Moby Max. I have recently added a challenge to Moby
