We will cover the traditional planets and constellations as well as more practical skills such as telling time by the sun and navigation by the stars. %or a !ull list o! topics to be covered# see the course rubric. Grading: &ll assignments are graded using a '"& scale instead o! points and percentages. $hink o! these as levels o! mastery. (very assignment will be graded using the appropriate topic and assessment rubric. ,n an e!!ort to meet the learning and demonstrative strengths o! all students# students will be given a choice o! assessment types !or each topic# ranging !rom the traditional test to presentations and papers or even cartoon versions o! the in!ormation. $he 2assessment date3 will be the due date !or any who chose papers# presentations or other options as well as the date on which the traditional test will be given !or those who chose it. $here is one semester pro4ect that is the e5ception and must be completed by all students. $he semester benchmark and !inal will be given as a traditional test !or everyone. Since learning is a 2cycle3# all in!ormation may be demonstrated again. 6owever# instead o! retaking the test or redoing the assignment# students must choose a new !orm o! assessment by which to demonstrate their increased knowledge on the topic.
