Small Industries Service Institutes

The Small Industries Service Institutes (SISIs) provide consultancy and training to small entrepreneurs across India. There are 28 SISIs and 30 branch SISIs located throughout the country. The main functions of SISIs are to assist existing and prospective entrepreneurs through technical and managerial counseling, advise central and state governments on small industry policy matters, and conduct entrepreneurship development programs. SISIs also render technical support services, promote small industries, and provide market information and assistance with quality control, testing, and financial assistance to small scale industries.

The SISI are set up to provide consultancy & training to small entrepreneurs-both existing & prospective The activities

of SISIs are coordinated by the Industrial Management Training Division of the DC(SSIs) office. There are 28 SISIs & 30 Branch SISIs set up in State Capital & other places all over the country SISIs has wide spectrum over technological, management and administrative tasks to perform

Main functions of SISI: To assist existing & prospective entrepreneurs through technical & managerial counselling; 1. To serve as interface between Central & State Govt.s 2. To advice the central & state govt. on policy matters relating to small industry development 3. To render technical support services 4. To conduct Entrepreneurship Development Programmes all over country 5. To initiate promotional programmes

To provide technical advice to small scale entrepreneurs To assist in testing of raw-materials & products of SSIs , their inspection & quality control To supply market information to the to the SSIs To recommend SSIs for financial assistance from banks To enlist entrepreneurs for participation in Govt. stores purchase programme Conduct economic & technical surveys & prepare Techno-economic reports for selected & industries Identify the potential for ancillary development through sub-contract exchanges Organise seminars, workshops & industry clinics for the benefits of entrepreneurs

The SISIs also render assistance in fallowing areas: Economic consultancy/Information/EDP Consultancy Trade & market informations Project profiles State industrial potential survey District industrial potential surveys Modernization & inplant studies Workshop facilities Training in various trade/activities

Three months part time evening courses in management 4-6 weeks part time courses in intensive training in functional areas (marketing, finance) Special courses in quality control, HR, production planning, product development etc Mobile workshops imparting training on correct usage of tools and equipment Helps with preparation of plant layouts Helps individual firms on specific problems faced
