Preliminary Task Evaluation
Preliminary Task Evaluation
task due to the fact that we spent a large amount of time filming and editing which paid off due to the last result in which a variety of different shots were used including all aspects appropriate for the task. This includes the suitable dialogue and also shots used in the approach to the dialogue such as the match-on-action editing technique and the way in which we used the 180 degree rule throughout the clip which helped us to maintain a professional look throughout the task. A large amount of time was spent during our filming session checking the focus was correct on the camera which helped to create many aesthetically pleasing shots throughout the task; one of my favourite shots was the use of the eyeline match in which the focus on the eyes is extremely clear and highlights where the character is looking. Another aspect of the task which went well was the music used in the beginning which fitted extremely well with the tense feel we wished to create throughout the clip and also fitted perfectly with the way in which we emphasised it was an interrogation and was therefore extremely appropriate for the clip. The location also helped add to this since the dull colours of the walls gave a sense of isolation and a dull atmosphere within the interrogation reflecting the mood of the accused. Despite being pleased with our efforts, there are aspects which we can improve on and we can use these criticisms in order to help us make choices for our future filming and editing tasks. One of the things we could improve on is changing the adding a slow motion effect to the eye line match in order to add more of an effect and emphasis on the inspector entering the room. Another improvement we could make is to cut off the edges of the over the shoulder shots in order to match them better and also make the scene looks more enclosed and like an interrogation and perhaps add some more angles or an amplified door slam. In conclusion, I feel that our preliminary task was extremely successful and there were many aspects which made it this way for example the fact that the non-diegetic music fitted the scene perfectly and added to the effect of the interrogation.
