ELT/555 (V) 3 AIRBORNE ELECTRONIC COUNTERMEASURES POD

The ELT/555 (V) 3 is a self-contained self protection ECM pod for supersonic fighter aircraft. Electrical power generation is ensured ! a ra"-air tur ine located on the nose of the pod. #nternal e$uip"ent include fore and aft facing antennas which recei%e pulsed and continuous wa%e signals and trans"it pulsed responses& plus separate fore and aft facing continuous wa%e trans"itter antennas on the undersurface. The s!ste" operates in '- to (- and () to *+ ,'-) and is designed to operate in dense electro"agnetic en%iron"ents. #t has "ultiple target contrast capa ilit! and features .#TE.

The ELT-555 /ir orne Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) and radar 0a""ing s!ste"& was utilised in the electronic warfare role ((a""ing/1elf-2rotection and was often referred to as 3.i4ini3. as a acti%e self-protection s!ste" for fighter aircraft (in pod installation) and is designed to pro%ide a wide range of 0a""ing techni$ues (deception& noise& etc)& suita le to face oth traditional and new threats characteri-ed ! coherent radar (2ulse& 5oppler& 2ulse Coded& etc...) associated to /nti-/ircraft /rtiller!& 1urfaceto-/ir Missile 1!ste"s& /# and //M s!ste"s. #n 1//6 ser%ice& this pod was carried on the Mirage 67& the .uccaneer as well as the #"pala.
