What characteristics of the ODI contact lenses are likely to make it appealing/unappealing to chicken farmers? ODI lenses was a product discovered by accident. ODI lenses main objective was to partially blind the chicken, so that it was easy to handle. The main factors which appeal ODI lenses are. Elimination or reduction in cannibalism among chickens. Debeaking was no longer required which was a traumatic job. Economical benefits of reduced time, cost and increased efficiency. Other added advantages like altering their appetites, rate of sexual maturity. Reduced mortality rates.

Factors which were unappealing were. Marketing the innovative product, with such a lean setup. The business could be profitable only for farmers having more than 10000 birds. ODI lenses cannot be reused. The manufacturing cost. Acceptability of new product.

In what geographic areas should ODI focus? Which are the other ways of segmenting the market? From geographic segmentation it is clear that the most densely populated areas are California followed by South atlantic and west south central. ODI can concentrate first in its home town itself and establish strong grounds and then expand. What pricing policy should they adopt? Is the demand price elastic?
