Waste Water Industry: Management Dairy

India produces the most milk per day in the world. The dairy industry uses a large amount of water and generates different types of waste. Wastewater from dairy plants comes from milk receiving, processing of liquid milk and other dairy products, cleaning, and other plant activities. It contains biodegradable organic compounds and pollutants that require treatment. The characteristics of wastewater vary depending on the type of dairy processing but generally have high levels of BOD, COD, and suspended solids.
