Horse Power Conversion

Power can be expressed in watts (W). The table provides conversions between watts and other units like ergs/second, horsepower (electric), horsepower (metric), and kilowatts. To convert ps (pferdestärke) to horsepower, divide ps by 1.36, as ps and metric horsepower are equal. Horsepower ps and horsepower hp are also the same unit, known as metric horsepower. Cars in Japan are rated in ps, which converts to slightly fewer hp than the rating because hp is the imperial/mechanical unit obtained by converting ps.
