Digital Media Assignment 1 Elements and principles of design

1. Line A mark or stroke long in proportion to its breadth, made with a pen, pencil, tool, etc., on a surface. 2. Shape (2D) The quality of a distinct object or body in having an external surface or outline of a specific form or figure. 3. Form (3D) - External appearance of a clearly defined area. 4. Texture The feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance. 5. Depth (perspective) The distance from the top of a surface or something to its bottom. 6. Light The natural agent that simulates sight and makes things visible. 7. Direction (motion) a course along which someone or something moves 8. Mass (visual weight) A coherent, typically large body of matter with no definite shape. 9. Tone (black and white) To harmonize with something in terms of color. 10. Value (color) - The lightness or darkness of a color. 11. Space (positive and negative) Distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece.

posters. 1. This advertisement is for the musical event called Woodstock, the message in this ad is for people to come together for three days of peace, love, and music.

2. Color, Texture, Space 3. This advertisement shows the color to be very uplifting and peaceful. While the texture shows that the poster is very old. The space of this ad is very positive because it is showing a positive message.

1. The message of this advertisement shows that through this sporting event will bring the whole world together. 2. Color, Space, Light, Depth. 3. The color of this advertisement shows all different colors to show the diversity of the coming events.

1. This advertisement is showing the return of a very famous character of a very famous show and is telling viewers to remember the legendary name. 2. Contrast, light, tone, depth, space. 3. The tone of this advertisement shows that it is dark and powerful at the same time. The depth is shown through the image being black and white while the text is in faded yellow to have more emphasis on the text.

3.Definitions of principles of design.

1. Balance Comparing the value of one thing with another. 2. Emphasis Special importance, value or prominence given to something. 3. Proportion - Parts of something that can be shared. 4. Repetition the act of doing the same thing over and over again. 5. Unity The sate of being joined or united. 6. Contrast The state of two things being strikingly different. 7. Harmony Agreement and concord. 8. Proximity Nearness in space or time. 9. Variety The quality or state of being different or diverse.
