My interview was with Sealy ISD Interim Superintendent Dr. William Walker. He retired from education in 2011. He served as superintendent for two school districts. Since his retirement he served as interim superintendent for one other school district efore comin! to Sealy ISD. In reflectin! on this interview with Dr. Walker I see that he stresses that a superintendent should always focus on the students and stay consistent with the vision and focus of the district. "his consistency involves everythin! from decisions# communication# and oversi!ht. "he superintendent must set hi!h e$pectations for the staff and students and then reinforce those e$pectations. Sometimes decisions can e tou!h# ut if you rin! it ack to students then the answer ecomes clearer. %ommunication and ein! seen are also important aspects of the &o . "hese help reiterate the vision the superintendent has for the district and the students. It also allows people to ask 'uestions which helps clarify the vision. I will take away from this that I need to continue to e$pand my knowled!e of all aspects of a school district. My e$periences will naturally !ive me more insi!ht into particular departments# ut a superintendent must oversee all departments. "he superintendent must also create relationships with the school oard and community. "hey are always representin! the school district# so they need to represent the district in a positive li!ht.
