Objective of The Design Project: Control Design Project Is Aimed at Providing Hands-On

The document outlines the objectives, tasks, and team compositions for a control design project. The objectives are to provide hands-on experience applying analysis tools and design methodologies to realistic problems. The tasks for November 12th include generating the transfer function, listing assumptions, determining poles/zeros, analyzing stability, and comparing impulse/step responses to MATLAB results. Teams will present their work in a 3 slide maximum presentation covering the problem description, transfer function analysis, and response/stability characteristics. The document concludes by listing the team compositions split into two parts for the project.

Objective of The Design Project

Control design project is aimed at providing hands-on experience of applying the various analysis tools and design methodologies to realistic problems. It is a team task, that is to be completed in stages, in conjunction with the lectures. You should understand the spirit of the task and make suitable assumptions wherever either information or data is missing. Take is as a collaborative effort and participate wholeheartedly in discussions, solutions etc. There will be a small presentation required from all teams on the work completed.

Task List for 12th November

Kindly complete the tasks related to the generation of the transfer function. List assumptions made. Also, enumerate poles, zeros and basic stability of the system. Lastly, using partial fractions approach, generate the unit impulse and unit step responses of the open loop system and compare these results with results obtained from Matlab/ simulink. Prepare a presentation on the above containing 3 slides (Max.) towards (1) problem description, (2) transfer function, poles, zeros and (3) response and stability characteristics.
