Active/Passive Voice

Active vs. Passive voice is all about _____________ in the sentence is doing the
__________________. Most sentences in English are in the ___________________ voice.
In the active voice, the ___________________ of the sentence is the thing/person doing

Ex. Thomas ate the hambuger.
In this example, what is the action? __________________________.

Sometimes, in passive sentences, we _______________________ who did the action.

Both of the sentences above have the same meaning. One just includes more
___________________. Both are passive voice.
To create the passive voice:
to be + past participle (by person/thing)
Practice changing active sentences to passive.
Ex.

Active He built the house in September


Passive The house was built in September (by him).
Active Megan buys a coffee every morning.
Passive A coffee is bought (by Megan) every morning.
Active He is writing the book for his class.
Passive The book is being written (by him) for his class.
