SPECIFIC LESSON OBJECTIVE


As a result of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Correctly identify a location (i.e. Australia, or one of its capital cities) using Google Earth. Verbally and visually observe, discuss and estimate distances, differences and locations between Australia and other countries. Using an online quiz, demonstrate sound knowledge of names of places and identify specific locations in and around Australia.

Teacher to assess student capability via results from Quia. (Formal Assessment) Teacher can also causally assess via close (visual) monitoring of students when working as a whole class group. In order to determine whether students have understood the concept, the teacher can also casually quiz or pose a question whilst they are working (but ensure we do not pester them too much). (Informal Assessment)

Students will demonstrate an advanced ability to confidently use applications such as Google Earth (They will be able to identify particular divisions of the world i.e. oceans, lakes, continents etc, using previously introduced forms of ICT) Students will be given a quiz in which they will be asked to find and locate particular forms of geography, using Google Earth

Teacher can also determine understanding by engaging in discussion at the end of class and asking various questions and encouraging/promoting thoughtful discussion/responses from the group. (Informal Assessment)
