Grounding / Stranding Check List: Company Forms and Check Lists

1) Upon grounding, the crew is to stop engines, sound alarms, call the master, advise the engine room, exhibit lights and shapes on VHF channel 16, muster crew, and notify interested parties. 2) An inspection is to be conducted to check for hull damage, water intake, machinery issues, and cargo damage. Documentation like statements, surveys, reports, and log book entries are to be completed. 3) The nature of the bottom, draft, weather, and tide are assessed to determine if refloating is possible and what assistance may be needed.
