Understanding Place Value


Two digits of a two digit number represent

tens and ones


ones

10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten

The number 18 is thought of as 1 ten and 8

ones.

What is place value?

Practice Place Value at home!


Give your child dice

Have them roll them to create a two digit

number

Using the t-chart sent home have them

practice writing each two digit number out with the tens place on the left and the ones place on the right rolled

Have then do this with ten two-digit numbers
