Introduction
The Institutions examinations have been held worldwide on the first Friday following Easter (normally April) for many years. The examinations are widely recognised as being representative of the very high professional standards set by the Institution. The growing number of professional engineering bodies or learned societies from outside the UK that are using the Institutions examinations as models for their own assessment of professional competence is indicative of such recognition. It is very clear, therefore, that both examinations will continue to be very important elements of the Institutions future activity. This CD contains the following information: An overview of the Institutions Examination Process Chartered Membership (Part 3) question papers 1990 2001 Associate-Membership question papers 1990 2001 Examiners Reports 1990 2001 Advice to candidates preparing for the Chartered Membership (Part 3) examination A reminder to candidates from the Examiners Chartered Membership examination

For membership of the Institution, individuals must have satisfied the academic requirements, undertaken appropriate training and experience in structural engineering and passed the Professional Review. This is two-stage process comprising an Interview and the examination. Details concerning how to apply for the Institutions Professional Review can be obtained from the Institution website www.istructe.org.uk under the Membership section or by contacting the membership department at [email protected].
